When a mum takes the place…

When a mum takes the place…

I was humming this song, “when the moon takes the place of the sun in the sky…” , it led me to this poem! The sun is always deemed to be the head of the universe. A man, too, of a family! But I know of many women who are having it harder than a ‘single mum’.

This is it…

When a mum takes the place
of the dad in the stake.
She’ll care for the family
while daddy’s unwell.

For him, and for them
She has to be strong
put bread on table.
put babe to sleep
Hmm, hmm, sleep baby sleep!

He promised to make
a ‘princess’ of her.
Nothing to worry
go shopping and laugh
with her friends and sisters
they could go traveling!
No worry at all, oh, darling!
No, dear, no worry!

When a mum takes the place
of the dad in the stake.
She’ll work day and night
providing for all.

For him and for them
She has grown to be
a strong breadwinner,
‘single’ mum!
Oh yes, she is the one!
Oh yes, she is the one!

  1. Single means one.
    Two is better than one.
A man can be the head.
But sometimes a woman can be smarter more focused.
He can do the other stuff.
A man has his role in the family. Identify it.
    You can work less.
    Not in the other shoe.
