Criminalise suicides, criminalise law- makers…
Suicide is a global phenomena (WHO). WHO stressed the importance of increasing community awareness and breaking down the taboo in preventing suicides. To top this sad state of affairs, instead, is a law to criminalize suicides!
Depression symptoms were three times higher during COVID-19 lockdown.
According to Dr. Brittany LeMonda, senior neuropsychologist at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York City, many factors contributed to this increase in mood symptoms. These include increased social isolation, economic hardships, and exposure to other stressors.
Criminalizing suicides and mental illnesses mirrors a need to criminalize law- makers for their ineffectual policies and delay in managing the economic and societal environment for a conducive social support for these people who need help instead.
“I can understand if you put rapists, thieves, and murderers into prison. But if you lock-up someone who is already in so much pain…so mentally fragile, these law-makers ought to be replaced!” – Chen S.P, 2021

“Then why do they do it?”
